the khmer rouge his political party overthrew the old authoritarian regime that was the khmer republic lasting from 1970-1975 and established the communist country of democratic kampuchea; the khmer rouge oversaw a forced return to a completely new cambodia, one where the khmer rouge could rewrite cambodian history from scratch. in the span of four years his regime killed a total of 1.5-3 million people among other reasons those who the party deemed capable of independent thought.

his effects

democratic kampuchea gains a +30% magic damage buff. every time another party member uses magic the buff degrades by -5%, eventually starting to eat away at kampuchea's base magic damage stat (effects lasting for the rest of battle).

the ingame justification could be that the more theory (magic) is used the stauncher kampuchea grows in ideology and has to rely on more physical, traditional methods of survival

sisi

her background

born elizabeth of bavaria and nicknamed sisi she was empress of austria. she became personally enamored with the kingdom of hungary, which was treated as imperial territory under management of austria. when hungary threatened to splinter as austrian power waned her husband franz joseph allowed the compromise that was the dual monarchy the empire of austria-hungary. sisi played a key role in smoothing the transition what with her affection for the country.

her effects

hungarian entities healing the bearer and vice versa will be +20% more effective. hungarian entities also have a higher chance of negotiation success rate (including recruiting) when targeted by the bearer.

james connolly

his background

james connolly was an irish socialist who sought to establish an independent ireland which at the time was firmly under the grip of the british empire. he helped form a militant republican army made up of around 250 members, the irish citizen army (ica), which would go on to lead the 1916 easter rising in which the ica seized control over various locations of dublin. the british army responded swiftly and connolly died by firing squad. his violent death outraged the irish public and opinion toward irish independence shifted from apathy to supprot.

his effects

ireland will receive a descending +20% attack buff if the united kingdom or england (friendly or hostile) has +20 levels than ireland, stacking for each entity. +20% for first entity, +10% for second entity, +5% for third entity.

rosa luxemburg

her background

rosa luxemburg was a socialist thinker who lived in the german empire and joined the social democratic party of germany (spd) who quickly grew in popularity for her passionate speeches, but her primary role was in theory, namely that socialism under a vanguard party (like the bolsheviks) would lead to a permanent, censoring dictatorship rather than serve as a precursor to true socialism. she later broke with the spd due to its willingness to support world war 1 and later formed the communist party of germany (kpd), where she was repeatedly isolated by more radical factions.

her effects

spell 'mass strike' the bearer can sacrifice healing efficiency (-30%) for 3 turns in return for a 1 turn +30% fist damage buff. the debuff and buff scale on top of the flat values, both with 5% for each allied party member currently on the battlefield.

adolf hitler

his background

adolf hitler was the dictator of nazi germany and saw the german people as a master race above all else. he sought total domination over europe and intended to weed out or enslave undesireable races, namely jews who he blamed for the german defeat of ww1. he through his public speaking swayed an already agitated population and established total control over germany. the allies, the victors who were also exhausted from ww1, were in the years leading up to the war repeatedly caving and allowing hitler's increasingly absurd territorial demands until it reached a breaking point with poland where the allies had to finally declare war. his actions eventually led to the systematic genocide of around 11 million people 6 million of which were jews.

his effects

spell 'reckless gambling' the bearer can bluff; during this period they will have a 90% of negotiation success but they take 2x more damage and when it runs out the bearer's negotiation chances is reduced to 0% for the rest of battle.

joseph goebbels

his background

joseph goebbels was responsible for manipulating german public opinion as the nazi party saw fit, namely normalizing antisemitism and the race ideology of the nazis. he did this primarily through repeating the same few core ideas and adapting them into different mediums to avoid public exhaustion and adapting the image of hitler so it appealed to the different german social classes so wildly different kinds of people had one unifying figure they could bond over.<

his effects

the bearer can prop itself up and gain +40% max hp but will be unable to negotiate for the rest of battle. other party members will be unable to heal the bearer as long as the bonus is active.

heinz guderian

his background

heinz guderian was a german general who was most famous for modernizing the old prussian tactic of bewegungskrieg (maneuver warfare) the doctrine that would help nazi germany rapidly win battles throughout the majority of land warfare on europe pre soviet invasion, alongside other generals who were equally responsible for the fast gains of nazi germany. he is most known for being the father of blitzkrieg having written himself as the sole architect of the doctrine supported by his actions during the battle of france where his panzer tanks punched through the ardennes and catching the french by surprise.

his effects

the bearer will receive additional same-turn burst attacks that deal 1.4x fist damage after attacking physically for the first 3 turns of battle but after each burst 10% of max hp is stripped away, after 3 turns pass reduced to 5% for the rest of battle.

suleiman the magnificent

his background

suleiman the great was the longest reigning sultan of the ottoman empire (46 years) where under his rule the economy military might and political stability of the ottomans all peaked. he personally led his armies and subjugated the large majority of the balkans, halting during his seige at vienna which failed. he also was a large sponsor of art and streamlined internal ottoman administration, a true universal man. he also was known for executing his son, prince mustafa who was considered to have potential to be a great ruler. in his place he was succeeded by selim ii, his last surviving son, who was completely disinterested in governance and more or less led to a degredation of sultan quality as a whole.
